'Our Journey'

Tom has always loved fishing, a passion that has rubbed off on his family! And having developed a love of France during his travels over the years, a dream began to take shape of owning his own lakes in France.
The search for the perfect place began in earnest in 2013 as the opportunity to move arose,

We scoured the country for potential looking at lakes from Brittany to Poitou-Charente before finally concentrating our search in the Limousin region, arguably the carping capital of France!

We fell in love with the area and were certain we were making the right decision in following the French dream. And in a sleepy little Limousin town that first Summer, Tom and I got engaged!

After several visits over the next year and no real luck, our estate agent finally found a place he felt might be perfect that was available to rent. The English owners were due to visit the West Country and so we arranged to meet them. Several hours and many photos later, and Tom and I were excitedly planning a trip to France and La Petite Jaurie or 'LPJ' as it was affectionately known.

In July 2014, and in the mad throes of organising our wedding, we visited 'LPJ' and were blown away. The place was peaceful, tranquil and stunning green in the midsummer heat, complete with house, pool and three beautiful lakes, the water winking in the sunlight through portholes of trees and shrubs.
The potential of the place to build the life we really wanted, for fishing and camping and sustainable living, was incredible and we knew we had found 'the one'. We accepted the rental proposal and returned to the UK to plan the move.

Determined to live life to the full and grab every opportunity, Tom and I married in the August surrounded by our friends and family, and with a 'live in the moment' attitude and the help of close friends and family, ten days later we packed up and made the move!

Tom and I felt so certain of our plans we decided to make an offer to buy 'LPJ' as we travelled to our new home, and so Camp Long was born!  Nearly three years of hard work and determination later and we are closer than ever of realising our dreams...

Camp Long Tackle Shop is open for business and we are well underway with the work on our lakes, having been granted our new work permits last year. We have plans in the offing for camping and cannot wait to see where our incredible journey will lead us next.

You can get to Camp Long easily from the UK and other parts of Europe – there are direct flights to Limoges – and our all-in fishing package means we'll pick you up from the airport and give you just about all you need for a great week of carp fishing.

The beautiful lake is more than 70 years old and is set in the Périgord Limousin Regional Natural Park, about 40 minutes south-west of Limoges.

Camp Long holds loads of carp, with fish up to and around 30+lbs.  Our largest fish have yet to been caught and there have been sightings this season of some beautiful fish including five stunning very large Koi.  Fishing at Camp Long can be hectic, with carp that fight hard, so be prepared for some epic battles.

Our on-site bailiff can cater for all your needs, give you the best info and tips, and our all-in package gives you tackle, food, drinks, showers, wifi, charging points, bivvies, bed, chair... you just need to bring end-tackle, clothes, pillow and sleeping bag.

We look forward to welcoming you to Camp Long for a great week of fishing...
